Digital Mix Show @ Nocturnal Wonderland, August 2000

The first breakbeat rekkid I ever bought (over a year ago) was "2kool4skool," which was a collaboration between Überzone and Afrika Bambataa.  "What is this electro funk that's driving y'all crazy..."  I guess I owe it to Q, cuz ever since then, I've been hungry for breaks.

The distinctive sound of Überzone is one of chunky-funky superbly engineered breaks, mad acid lines, and a somewhat bubbly yet futuristic electro-techno texture.  How's that for a description?

Q, the mad professor, who started tinkering in his beat lab in his tender teenage years, recently teamed up with DJ Davey Dave, a 15-year veteran of the turntable trenches.  These two freaks have been traveling across the states delivering their "Digital Mix Show," which features remixes of some great breakbeat tracks, Überzone original material including tracks yet to be released, and the itch-scratching turntable antics of DJ Davey Dave.

We are all now anxiously awaiting--as Astralwerks keeps putting it--"the long awaited debut full length."  C'mon Q.  Get your butt in gear.  Oh, I see.  "TBA" is just a ploy to keep your fans on the edge of their seats.  But, I guess with the Digital Mix Tour, Q and Dave have had the opportunity to spoon feed the masses with a little taste of what they've got up their sleeves.  We're waiting guys.
